Dear users, through GlobalTalent24 you can currently arrange document translations from Serbian, Bosnian and Croatian into German, and from German into Serbian, Bosnian and Croatian. Translations are prepared by an authorised court translator in the European Union, specifically in Germany. You can also arrange the certification of document copies in Germany through us.

When preparing paperwork for a job, recognition of a qualification or family reunification, the same questions often arise just before you submit your application: Do I need a translation? Who is authorised to prepare it? Does the copy need to be certified? We want our users to know that they can arrange this part of the preparation through us as well.

Document translations play a particularly important role in the recognition of foreign diplomas and professional qualifications, a process sometimes referred to as nostrification. In addition to your diploma, the responsible authority may require translated certificates, a diploma supplement, a list of subjects and grades or evidence of work experience. These documents are used to assess your education and qualifications. Germany’s official “Anerkennung in Deutschland” portal states that the required translations must be prepared by publicly appointed or authorised translators. The authority handling the application determines the exact requirements.

Translations can also be important for family reunification. Depending on your family circumstances and the authority’s requirements, you may need translations of marriage and birth certificates, divorce judgments or custody documents. However, not every document automatically needs translating. For example, the German Embassy in Belgrade states in its guidance for spouses joining their partners that Serbian certificates issued on international forms require neither a translation nor an apostille. It is therefore worth checking what your particular application requires before ordering a translation.

You may also need translations when continuing your education, enrolling at university, preparing employment documents or dealing with personal and family matters between your home country and Germany. The documents involved can range from school records and professional certificates to official statements, powers of attorney and court decisions. The same applies in the other direction, when a document issued in Germany needs to be submitted to an institution in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina or Croatia.

Sometimes a certified copy is required alongside a translation. These are two separate services: certification confirms that a copy matches the document presented for inspection, while the authorised translator confirms the accuracy and completeness of the translation. Through GlobalTalent24, you can arrange for copies to be certified by the competent authority or another authorised person in Germany.

Before preparing your documents, check the guidance issued by the institution receiving them. Having a translation prepared in Germany does not mean that every institution in the EU has the same requirements. What matters is that the translation and any certification meet the requirements of the specific procedure.

If you need document translations between German and Serbian, Bosnian or Croatian, or certified document copies in Germany, contact the GlobalTalent24 team. Tell us which documents you have and what you need them for so we can discuss the next steps.
